Spring has sprung and that also leads to a rise in many common allergies this time of year, such as tree pollen and ragweed. The month of April also tends to welcome frequent rainfall and thunder and lightning storms. It’s important to remember that if you plan to travel on the LINC whether that’s on foot or by bike, remember to check the weather forecast for that day and plan appropriately.
As the surrounding trees and plants begin to green up and the humidity level rises, so do the critters, bees, ticks and mosquitos. Remember to apply not only sunscreen if you plan on taking an extended LINC excursion but also bug spray or repellent to keep those pesky insects at bay. Staying hydrated is an essential need while you’re out in the heat, so always bring a generous amount of water or your favorite sports drink, preferably electrolyte infused, if possible; to keep your body’s concentration of sodium at an optimal level while you walk, bike, jog or run along the LINC trail.
So, while you have some ‘Spring’ in your step, remember these important suggestions to maximize your experience along the LINC Pathway. Always stay alert, be kind and courteous to others along the trail, and most importantly have a fun and great time while on the LINC.
This year’s Ready…Set…LINC community event, filled with fun activities, great food, music and more will be held on May 9th 2025 (4pm – 8pm) at the Newnan Centre.
